What to see

  • Villanova sull'Arda

The municipality of Villanova sull'Arda contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Cignano, Sant'Agata, and Soarza.
Sant'Agata is probably best known as the home for over 50 years of the composer Giuseppe Verdi who built the Villa Verdi in 1848. www.villaverdi.org
  • Cogno San Bassano

The centre of Cogno San Bassano is located about 8 km from Farini with an altitude of 850m. and it is on the road that connects the village with Pradovera.
The square opposite the church is interesting because you can find the remains of an ancient chapel dedicated to St. Rocco, which predated the period of the lords.
We have not to forget to mention the village of the Ghezzi: here it stands an ancient (and maybe romanic) tower, which was probably used for keeping the garrison of militia, with responsibility to defense of the place.
For tourists who love nature there are different possibilities: you can start for a walk in the pine woods of the Cappelletta until you reach the top of Monte Osero, from where, on clear days you can see Piacenza, but also part of the Lombardy region.
  • Coli

This town was an important monastic centre depending on Bobbio. In the main square of the town there is the crux Michaelica, a votive stone that bears an inscription from the 10th century. Nearby you will find a 17th century shrine dedicated to Sant’Agostino
  • Marsaglia/Corte Brugnatella

The town is located in the high Trebbia Valley in the Ligurian Apennines, near the confluence of the rivers Trebbia and Aveto.
The landscape of the Trebbia Valley is neatly cultivated up to altitudes where the forests cover thickly the slopes of the mountains. On the same territory pine forests were planted by man after the war. The river Trebbia, crystalline waters, is one of the few Italian still swimming rivers. Along its course, which attracts many athletes and swimmers each summer, it is possible to practice activities include canoeing, fishing, canoeing and other sports.
The main branch of the river Trebbia si the Aveto torrent. The other branches are on the right bank the Rio Cordarezza and the Rio Curiasca and on the left bank the Rio Viller.
